Following amendments to the Government Sector Employment Act (2013), the Public Service Commission was merged with the Premier's Department from 1 July 2024. This website is now managed and maintained by the Premier's Department.

People Matter Employee Survey
November 2023
This annual survey asks NSW public sector employees about their experience and perceptions of a range of workplace issues and practices, including management and leadership, service delivery, employee engagement and diversity and inclusion.

Burnout research
October 2023
We have completed research into burnout across the NSW government sector, based on 2022 PMES survey results. Our report includes actionable strategies agencies can implement to foster a more balanced and supportive work environment that prioritises employee wellbeing.
Cultural diversity

Asset management occupation specific capability set

Occupation specific capability sets are designed to be used with the NSW Public Sector Capability Framework to provide a fuller description of the capabilities required to perform in a professional role.
The asset management capability set supports the full range of workforce management and development activities for asset management roles in the NSW public sector.

Sexual harassment prevention model policy
May 2023
We have developed a model sexual harassment policy to help agencies create appropriate processes for dealing with incidents of sexual harassment and prevent these negative behaviours from occurring.
Agency policies must be in place by March 2024, as per the Commissioner's Direction.

Code of ethics and conduct review
Release: early 2024
We are undertaking a substantial review of the Code of Ethics and Conduct for NSW government sector employees to ensure it is fit for purpose and in line with changes to the GSE Act.
NSW public sector strategic workforce plan
Release: mid 2024
We are developing a whole of sector plan and accompanying resources to enable agencies to understand and proactively prepare for changes that may impact their future workforce requirements. Preparation is key in creating a contemporary and highly capable public sector to serve the people of NSW.
Using AI in recruitment

We will be undertaking research into how artificial intelligence can be used to support ethical, merit-based recruitment in the NSW government sector.

Sexual harassment prevention e-learning

We are developing sexual harassment prevention e-learning for people managers in the sector. This e-learning will be available to add in to your agency learning management system (LMS).
Workforce Dataflow and Analytics

We will be delivering our 2024 workforce data using our new Dataflow platform and services for more timely data and insights about the sector workforce.
